Katiopa Watoto Shule summer school-Montreal, Canada

The Katiopa Watoto Shule summer school officially begins on July 1st, 2012 until August 20th, 2012. We will be teaching Our children Afrikan centered mathematics, creative art and expression, reading & writing, geography, music, the philosophy and opinions of Marcus Mosiah Garvey, the Nguzo Saba and the basics of the Akan/Twi language & KiSwahili. At Katiopa Watoto Shule we place special emphasis on the Adinkra proverbs, so we will be studying this ancient value system with Our children as well.

Many other Afrikan and/or Afrikan-Caribbean proverbs will also be introduced to the children, so we will be learning about Our ancestral wisdom, all over the world. The Katiopa Watoto Shule summer school program is going to focus on our indigenous culture, academic history, values and social system as Afrikan (Black) people of the world. We will also be attending cultural festivals, swimming excursions, enjoying days in the park, going out on nature walks and participating in educational field trips.

We will be placing a strong emphasis as well on the Maroon traditions of the diaspora and the independence movements and precolonial freedom fighters on the continent of Afrika. The Katiopa Watoto Shule summer school is for Afrikan (Black) children aged 3+ to 7+ (+=1/2) years of age, regardless of nationality, language or place of birth. Our summer school is bilingual as well, so we will accept children who speak english and/or french.

However, we will only be accepting a maximum of five children due to limited space. We will also be offering overnight services for the duration of the summer school program, if necessary. If you would like more information on our curriculum for the summer school program please contact me, Mama Kentake Malopenza at Meda ase na mema wo Abibifahodie! (thank you and i wish you Afrikan liberation)

You can also find Our page at facebook as “Katiopa Watoto Shule Learning Center”. Come check us out to keep updated on all our upcoming activities, programs and classes!
