Do you Hear the Childrens’ Echo?!

Do you hear the children’s echo?
Do you see their salty tears?
Can you sense their pain, their sorrow?
Do your feel their hurt, their fear?

As they walk there thru the meadow…thru the heat on mothers’ ground…
there they clasp their hands together…listening for the drumbeat sound…
Land that once was rich and green…home of the elephant and the Zulu queen…
Burnt by the blazing of hatreds’ sun…killed by strange sound of Dutch warrior ones…

Though apartheid now has ended…does that freedom bell ring true?…
Is there truly spirit in it..that spark of life..that pride we knew?…
Questions form and yet we wonder..just what does the future hold?…
Can we now bring back the thunder..was he just a story we were told?…

Were the drums and fires burning..did we march Mabaso’s march?..
Were King Shaka’s nostrils flaring?..soldiers proud, fearless and starch…
Now we see our once blue rivers..crying with a bitter moan..and the spirit that once glittered..has a quiet distinctive tone…

Do you hear the children’s echo?
Do you see their salty tears?
Can you sense their pain, their sorrow?
Do you feel their hurt, their fear?
